I haven't started my 93 since October. I needed to make a lumber run to home depot so I needed to use my truck. Its 9* F in the garage so I thought i would plug in the block heater for a couple of hours just to warm it up a bit. (Never, ever plugged it in before) When I plugged it in, after about 8-10 seconds I hear a sizzle noise? is this normal? I unplugged it immediately and never plugged it back in. Needless to say the truck started right up (got to love the extended glowplug time mod I did years ago).
Just wondering if its normal for the block heaters to make a sizzle noise or is it getting to hot?

Scott.

As long as it isn't an "electrical" sizzle, it's normal. That's the water boiling off the heater element. You may also hear some hiss and popping, which is also normal. Similar to an electric coffee maker.
