Hi guys! Haven't been around for a while now, but got a question. Think I already know the answer, but need some confirmation.

In a 2000 or above year model 2500HD, has the Allison tranny ever been offered with the 6.0 litre engine?

Thanks for your help,

David

No. Only the 4L80E/4L85E. There was another change around 2009, but I haven't seen any of those. In any case, never an Allison. (not that you couldn't do it, if you had a mind to...)

Thanks Maverick. That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure I was right.

In 08 or 09 they switched to the 6L90E 6 speed trans that many call an ALLISON even though it shares virtually nothing with it.

Thanks. My dad's truck in an '04, so that's not applicable, but good to know. That's probably a much better design with closer ratios better for towing. With the current cost of diesel engines and fuel, they really need to design and implement another big block gasser. The new emissions on the diesels, from my experience has taken away a lot of their advantage in the form of fuel economy. Not to mention the rising cost of service.
