Shell RotellaT 5w-40 Synthetic

I've read on here before that the Shell RotellaT 5w-40 was not a fully synthetic oil. Well, here is the link to the RotellaT 5w-40 Synthetic (http://www.rotella.com/products/rotella_t_synthetic.html) information site that states that it is fully synthetic. FYI ;)

Ronnie thanks for the link, I have been using the 5W-40W Rotella for over a year now and I have switched everything but the old tracor to it, pumps, lawn mowers, cars old and new. It seems to work as claimed and is a step up from the 15w-40w and can be had for about double cost of 15w-40w compared to other synthetics which cost about 4X 15w-40w. I could care less if it isn't a type IV synthetic. At the local Walmart they can't get enough to keep the shelves stocked all the time.

I use rotella 15w40 ... Does it matter If I use 5w40 during the winter then switch back to 15w40 during warmer season??

It shouldn't matter that you switch, at least in my mind. Just keep in mind that the 40 is the warm rating and they are rated the same.

That's the way that I do it. In the warm months, I run 15w-40 Rotella T. In the cold months, I run the Synthetic 5w-40 Rotella T. This is primarily because of the cost of the oil. However, I plan to some comparisons when I get my engine oil temperature gage hooked up to see if there is any reduction in oil temperature in the summer from using the synthetic. I've seen other applications that have benefitted from reduced oil temperature when switching to synthetic oil.

If they use the same standards as mobil 1 ......sure it's a full synthetic.
