6.2L Crankshafts

This is probably a silly question, but do all of the 6.2L crankshafts have a cavity in the rear of the crank for a pilot bushing/bearing? I'm looking into getting a used 6.2L to replace the current engine in my '84 K2500 with a SM465 and was wanting to make sure that engines that were originally mated to automatics would work with the manual trans.

That's a good question. I've never seen one without the pilot hole, and have mixed/matched a bunch of them without giving it a second thought. If I was just lucky, it would be a first.

The cranks are all the same.

The engine, if its going to be fitted with a Manual tranny gets a pilot bushing stuffed into the bore and it its getting an auto tranny does not get the bushing.

The bore is there and the larger diameter is used to "Pilot" the converter hub on an auto tranny.

IIRC the bushing must be removed if its going to be used with an auto though. ?????? I will need to take a peek at a crank and see for sure on that one.

At any rate, the cranks are all the same.
