View Full Version : Water pump housing question
Hi guys. I'm finally getting around to fixing the pesky water pump leak at 237,000 miles. I got the pump removed and noticed some wear or pitting in one spot on the inside of the housing. I can only assume it's just wear from the directional flow of the coolant. Everything else looks great. Is the pitting something I should be concerned with or should I just bolt her back together and go?
Thanks
David
2 hrs and the truck is back together with no leaks. FYI, Alldata shows you have to remove the coolant crossover. It's really not nessesary. I disconneted the turbo coolant line and swung the crossover pipe that runs to the pump to the thermostat housing out of the way just enough to get the pump in and out. Saved a lot of R&R work.
BTW, here is the housing defect I was referring too.
