was thinking about bringing my 01 dmax to the local fair this weekend to try my hand at the truck pull. was wondering if i could run my predator on setting 5(120 horse) or if that would get to hot. also gear selection? can i leave it in drive 3 or will i run out of gear? any help on set up is appreciated.

We've had pretty decent luck getting away with runing significant power in low range and stock transmission. You will not be able to pull 4th so 3rd is max, BUT you will probably "govern out" with the tuning that you are running. The OE tuning really rolls off at 2800 RPM and most aftermarket tuners don't address this (or much else for that matter) as they are very basic 2 or 3 tables changed and move on.

thanks for the reply jk. hey does anyone out there know how to build a kill switch to mount to the back of the truck? they are saying i need to have that and neutral lights to be able to run. also do the neutral lights only apply to standard tranny trucks or all trucks. seems like a lot to do to be able to pull at a local fair. oh ya they also told me diesels now have to compete in the prostock class not streetstock. guess they realized how much of a weapon these trucks really are.

If you have to pull against a prostock class,,,,, you will have your a** handed to you through the exhaust smoke of the others!
In a street class you will do ok.

To do a kill switch we take the ECM/INJ fuse out and loop the wire to the rear and use a normally open switch. This switch uses a pin to hold it closed and wnen the pin is pulled it opens.

Not sure on the neutral light. Most do not have them and I haven't seen street truck required to have them. Driveshaft loops and ujoint shields are quite common requirements.
