steering?

when you are driving down the road and you turn the wheel a little bit to the left or right it acts like it sticks there and wont turn back straight like something is sticking any ideas what this might be? I know it not a very good description but thats all i can come up with!

Did it happen all of a sudden? Any recent work done? Is the steering wheel hard to turn?

It could be a frozen ball joint, the steering box could be too tight or something seizing there, or the alignment could be bad.
