I have the following codes coming up on my truck and need advice on where to start looking.
the codes are P1404....P0299....P0101. I have already put on a new Mass Air Flow Sensor.What should I look at now ?

P1404 EGR-Closed Position Performance. Your dealer should perform an "EGR Position Re-Learn". This may take care of it.

P0101 MAF - Mass/Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance. When using a Tech II Scan Tool, a normal MAF sensor should produce 42-50 grams/sec at idle and 420 grams/sec or more at a wide-open 2-3 shift. This test will help determine whether the MAF sensor is reading correctly.

Check to make sure you don't have a loose/leaking air intake, intercooler hose, plugged filter, etc.

How is truck's driveability? Any unusual black smoke at the tailpipe under acceleration?

The truck drives and runs great while running around town. Problem starts on the highway. 15 to 20 miles out it will start losing boost and power. Sometimes it will smoke really bad and sometimes light. After it is shut down for a short time it will take right back off and run fine. I have done the following so far - New air filter, new fuel filter, and new mass air flow sensor. I will see if the dealer here knows about the EGR re-learn. Thank you for this info and please keep it coming. I really need the help!

I did check the intercooler hoses and clamps, but I will re-check them again just to be on the safe side.
