Just installed GMTDScan Tech on a new Windows 7 laptop. The installer requires installation in the C:\Program Files(x86)\GDTScan folder. I have tried to install the program in the C:\Program Files\GDTScan folder, but it ends up in the (x86) folder. I suspect that is a function of Windows 7. Anyway, the folder is marked 'read only' by Windows and thus, when I try to register the program, the program can't write the registration file to the sub-directory. I am new to W7 and suspect that this is the norm for W7. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

GMTDScan is a 32-bit application and your running a 64-bit OS, that's why it ends up in the x86 folder.
I did a quick search and found this about changing access rights... http://www.blogsdna.com/2159/how-to-take-ownership-grant-permissions-to-access-files-folder-in-windows-7.htm

You can also right click and run as administrator. The reason it went to the x86 folder is that it is only a 32 bit program.
