Vacuum Pump

Real quick question for you guys. The truck has been running like a top for awhile now but I just was coming home and there was a kinda knocking -ticking noise from the passenger side that I just noticed. I did dianostic work and traced the issue to the vacuum pump that is going or has gone.

My question is I have to use the truck this weekend for running around and I can't change the pump till Monday, will it hurt anything if I drive the truck around? And, do these things just go orrrrr do they make noise and then go.

Should be OK. You may loose boost, though, so if it smokes black, back off....

Same thing happened to me and I drove for about a week on it like that. Instead of getting another vacuum pump, ditch it and get a mechanical boost controller and shorter serpentine belt from kennedydiesel. Its a way better setup and I am pretty sure its the same price as a new vacuum pump from Advance if not cheaper.
