I think I may have found a 506 Navistar block. It is sitting in a shed slowly rusting away. In the valley there are two triangles back to back making a diamond shape and 506 is also cast in dots in the valley. The engine is siezed as the lines to the oil cooler blew off with 1500 miles on it. It looks new just rusty from being open in the shed. He already sold the heads. He said it was a replacement engine from GM that was installed in a 2000 truck. I didn't have my glasses on but I think the date code was 11 13 I.

Is this the engine I think it is?

Sounds like the generation before the P400, which would be a good find.

Picked up the 506 short block today. The date code is 10 13 J which I hope is Oct. 13 2002. As that would make this engine a good find.:D

Sounds like an AMG block. It should have metric threads for the motor mounts and metric threads for the engine to trans as well. Is there a smashed drain line for the valley on the back of the block?

It has metric motor mount bolts and I don't know what the eng to BH are yet. Engine is upside down on a cart so I need to get it on the stand for inspection.
