6.2 chevy van

Does anyone know if I can swap out a 2002 5.0L gas from a chevy express van 1500 and drop in my favorite 6.2L diesel without too much difficulty? I have found both a donor vehicle running and complete or would just an engine be ok? I know that Gm did put the 6.2 into their vans in the 80s and 90s but not sure if the new design allows for enough clearances. would a person have to swap out the ecm as well, this is my work van and the 12-15mpg is a real downer.

That sounds like a barrel full of rattle snakes.

I think you'd be better off finding a 1991-1995 Gvan with a 6.2 or non-turbo 6.5 in it, they'll all have 4L80E's in them for transmissions too. You could then trade the current van.

Just don't think it'd be economical to attemp such a conversion with an almost uncertain outcome.

IIRC the vans had the 6.5 up to 2002.
