6.5 tranny trouble

My 97 6.5 diesel is shifting hard between 1st & 2nd gear, already changed oil and filter and its still doin it, anyone have any tips or idea's what it could be?

Try replacing your fuel filter, and verify lift pump operation.

Any ses light??? Codes ???

If no codes, try unhooking the batteries and let sit for 5 minutes then reconnect and see if issue remains.

As Maverick suggested, fuel filter, lift pump. If the engine is starving some for fuel it will take more throttle to get the thing going and the resultant throttle pressure will be more than needed and can cause a rough shift.
