Have had an issue with the tail gate on my 89 Blazer.
Most of the screws that hold the inner panel on were missing.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO I decide to glue the weather strip back on real good, replace the rubber seal inside the inside cover and install new stainless screws.

Haaaaaaaaaa all runs along real well until I go to run the window back up.

BZZZZZZZZ Clunk and the window stops just as it starts to enter the track in the fiberglass top.

I rip the thing apart far deeper than I had planned and discover that the window lower metal mounting hits on part of the X lift when it gets up part way.

Screwing the inner cover all the way down is tweeking the gate just enough that things will not work.

OK this all said, the rig has had a swing out spare tire carrier and the gate has a crack where the top bolt on the bracket was bolted, plus the gate is dented slightly just under the chrome unit where ya stick the key in.

The iner panel has been tweeked slightly and looks as though someone had a tread plate panel scrtewed to it also. (gone now but holes left behind)

OK I got the sucker tweeked enough that I can get the inner panel back on and the window up but its still a tad flakey and ya got to fool with it.

The gate is not worth messing with, with the crack and such.

Are the tail gates from similar years of Burbs interchangeable or is the Blazer all by itself ???

Got an ad on craigs looking for a good gate.

These little critters dont like being tweeked.

If I have to,I will try and rebuild this one but until the weather gets into predictably dry for at least a few days, I dont want to rip into the thing again and maybe not be able to get it back up

OooooooooH sounds spendy. :D

Well I did some snooping over at the LMC truck parts place.
NOOOOOOOOO Burb gates are a bunch different.

Looks like I am needing to find a good tailgate, or at least a shell.

My innards are fine just the shell is tweekd just enough that the window hangs up.

Once the weather improves more I will tear it apart again and see if I can repair the damage

The inner beam that the X lift mounts on was sprung by the way that the tire carrier was mounted.

The X lift is inward just a tad too far and the window hangs up on part of the lift as the window goes up.

With the window clear out of the gate and the X Lift removed I may be able to massage things a tad and get the X Lift back to where it needs to be.

If I can "Bump" the inner beam out about 1/4 inch it will work fine.

Looking closer a bit ago, I can see that the gate is pushed in some behind the Brushed aluminum decorator panel. 1/2" maybe overall but its enough that it screws with things.

If anyone has a tailgate thats not rusty and wants to make missy here a deal I am all ears.

My Kingdom for a tailgate says Missy Goodwench.

I've got one in Spokane. Hand crank for the window. You can have it if you or someone you know can come get it. The truck is going to the scrap yard soon...2 weeks maybe.

Thnks so much for the offer.

Biggy is getting free long enough to drive up there.

Local fellow responded last eavening to an ad I placed on Craigs List.

He has one off a 90 thats "perfect" so he says and he is 20 miles away.

Shipping from Spokane to Portland or my place would be $$$$$$

Local fellow says he will take $75 ?????

Cost to drive to Spokane and back is gonna be right there too.

Shipping would have to be via truck.

Thanks for the reply.
