Transfer Case problem?

I was changing the transfer case fluid today and when I unscrewed the fill hole plug, I put my pinky in the hole, it felt like if I pushed down on the threads towards the inner most part of the hole, the threads FELT like they would move down. Is this possible? Or is it just my imagination at work? I hope its nothing.

Knowing the history of this case and the tendency for the pump plate to wear through I would suggest you do the wear plate mod and inspect it. The threads could be partly stripped inside, but it's hard to say without a good visual.

Or it could be someone used sealer (RTV?) on the plug, and the sealer stayed inside. A closer look is in order, methinks.
