Yet another problem I seem to be having.
When I start the truck up I get a billow of white smoke shoot out from the turbo. Only seems to be on start up.
What would be causing this?

Huh? You mean under the hood? Where does it come out? Find the leak...

I just noticed this today as I finally got the truck running after the location of a kill-switch I did not know I had.
Seems to be at the back of the turbo near the downpipe. I am going to dig into this a little further as the downpipe may not be connected properly. Seeming what I have found so far on the truck, it would not surprise me.....
mine was doing the same thing before I pulled the engine. I think it was just a loose v-band.

Is it normal for gaskets to fail on these? I inspected the Downpip and it looks pretty tight. It appears the smoke is coming from a gasket location on the turbo

No gaskets, just machine fit. Probably is mis-aligned or not tight.
How about the 'donut' seals on the exhaust crossover pipe? The pass side terminates very close to the turbo.
I had these fail on my 98 and create a leak.
Thanks. Joe.
