Primary Fuel Filter

Where can I get the primary fuel fileter for my 88 6.2 The chain stores only carry the secondary filter.:confused:

Your 1988 only has one originally (the square thing on the firewall). If you do in fact have two, the other one is aftermarket, and won't be listed for your truck at the parts store (you'll have to identify it and get that filter by part number).

More (better) filtration is never the wrong thing to do. However, I suggest installing a higher efficiency filter after the OEM (between the OEM filter and IP). A 2 micron absolute would be a real improvement, and can extend pump and injector life significantly. There are a lot of options available HERE (http://www.thedieselpage.com/vendors/main.htm). The OEM filter is nominal, 10-30 micron (a little vague, but that's about the best estimate we can do).
