i was hopeing some of you guys could help me out. i have transmition fluit leaking from where the tube for the dipstick meats the trany housing and it is very speradic, seams to be worse when im facing down hill. The shifting problem is when it is cold (first started up) there seems to be lag when i first push the peddle in reverse and just recently in forward as well. when this happens i just lightly tap it till it "catches". sory for the bed grammar!

Could be burping out the overflow, I've heard that happens sometimes when they are cold.
The lag could be from the tranny losing prime after sitting, one of the allison techs can probably chime in and shed some light on it for you. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
Or, the dip stick tube could be broken and the fluid level low...
Filters been changed on schedule or sooner?? Owned a 1985 C30 6.2L w/THM400 that plugged the filter every 30000 miles and became slow to engage R or D when first placed in gear upon a cold start-up. Soon after filter change trans OH was needed 3 in 150000 miles.
