View Full Version : mobil 6 ATF
The weld on my 04 3500 D/A torque converter opened up. The dealer replaced and filled up with Dexron 6. I Asume this fluid is ok. Will this fluid be as good as the Amsoil torque drive I was using?
yep the dexron 6 is good stuff and works fine in anything that is ok to use III in. just not supposed to interchange the other way around. dont use III in something supposed to have VI in it.

Observation: The Allison 1000 is regarded as nearly bulletproof - even under strenuous towing duty. Q: What ATF is in most Allison 1000s?
Statistically speaking, I'd be more concerned with switching to Amsoil - although I know they make and market good products.
Q: How did your torque converter fail? Did it start pouring ATF on the ground? What symptoms and/or codes did you observe?
I used 4 wheel often for the snow in NJ this year and I don't drive it hard. A few weeks later I noticed the fluid runing all over the place. I do not have chips or have I upped the torqe or HP. Took the dealer a while to figure it out. Manager said its very rare for this to happen. Same thing he said when my oil dip stick tip came off.
