Exhaust Brake

I noticed that GM has added an exhaust break to their new offerings in the HD line. Has anyone installed one on a 2500 with the LMM engine? Mine is a 2008 model. I plan on doing some serious RVing next year and am looking at the pro's and con's.

Is it a separate brake or are they doing it with the variable vane turbo and some software tricks? I understand the latter has been available in the 4500 and such for a few of years now.
