Can't Read Code On My 02 Duramax

HI, I HAVE A 02 CHEVY DURAMAX 2500HD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, TRIED TO GET A CODE ON IT AND WHEN WE PLUG IT IN, IT DOES NOTHING. HAVE CHECKED ALL THE FUSES THEY ARE ALL GOOD. HAD A OIL CHANGE. AND THE LIGHT IS STILL ON. ANY IDEAS FOR ME, THANKS IN ADVANCE. :confused:

Not to sound like a smart A** but how did you check the fuses? Meter or visual? I ask because it has bit me more than once. Once it was the exact issue you are having, could not get EFI live to connect, by the way it is the same fuse that goes to either your lighter or aux power I cannot remember.
