Every so often I will be going steady speed of 65 mph and feel something like the transmission downshifts and sometimes the torque converter unlocks and the rpm's go up but it doesn't downshift. That happened a couple of times and one day going down the freeway in Houston I noticed the tranny temp gauge was sitting on 0 and it was locking and unlocking the converter. After a restart the temp. gauge came back on at 160 and hasen't acted up again in several weeks. Would a defective temp sensor in the tranny cause the TC to unlock and lock back up? Weird?

Any ideas?

Another thing, could a loose battery ground wire have any affect on the TC?
I found one of them very loose.

loose battery/grounds could cause the TCM to go off line and that will cause TCC to unlock.

The Allison programing does not allow TCC lockup until fluid reaches 95°f. Keep an eye on the gauge and if it acts up again (with good cable connections) I'd start watching teh trans temp on the scan tool and suspect the temp sensor.
