Hello again. I’m back with the ongoing saga that is my truck. I think I’ve resolved the problem of the truck shutting off after I start it. I replaced the OPS and now all is better with that problem. But after replacing the OPS, the check engine light came on. The code is for the MAP sensor, so I went to the store get a new one and replaced it, and the light never went out. Took it to the shop to reset it and the light never went out. Now the engine has a few problems that have popped up. It’s started making a knocking noise when I try to cruise between 35-60mph. While I’m on the highway doing 70mph there’s no noise. When I put “my foot into it” it blows a sizable cloud of black smoke. And after driving the truck for a while, when I stop and sit at idle, the truck runs rough, like it wants to stall.
Could the problem be in the PCM? Seems like I’m chasing around problems. I have a spare PMD, and the problems happens with both.
Any thoughts?
