View Full Version : Cooling Mods Questions
Most recommend the cooling mods upgrade. My question is: are the dual thermostats and high flow pump exclusive to each other? My suburban (a '96) has dual thermostats. Does this automatically mean high flow pump? If not, is there a clear outward difference to check?
Thanks for the help
If you have dual stats you should also have hi flow pump. I beleive some where on the front of the pump it should ref: 130.

The letters "HO" are cast into the flange of the 1997-98 130-gpm water pump at about the 10-11 o'clock position (when facing the front of the engine).
The 6.5 Cooling Tips (http://www.thedieselpage.com/members/features/65cooltipsc.htm) article shows a picture of one.

MP MP,
Do you have a part # for the 6.5 HO pump with the screw-on clutch like you used on your 6.5 power project truck?

No, I don't have a PN.... The pump we used was donated by Peninsular, as a like new take-off unit.
This is a 1999-2000 model year water pump. Heath Diesel sells the screw-on fan-clutch that'll work with the Duramax 21" fan (or 1997+ 20" steel 6.5 fan).

Mine came with the screw on style stock. Is this indicative of the block I have?
