Gear shift very stiff

The gear shift gets very hard to move some times. Not all the time. Cold dose`nt effect it. will do it when it is warm. Truck is 05 Chev 2500 HD Duramax. If you have any ideas I would be greatful.

Is this an Allison-equipped truck?

The truck has an allison transmission.Problem is intermittent so had to figure out.

I recently had a similar problem with my 09 Sierra. The big difference was I only had a problem with the transmission not wanting to go into "Park". It worked fine going into all other gears. The dealership said the shifter cables were binding up for some reason. They replaced the cables, and it's worked fine since then.
