hello!
suburban k2500 auto. 6.5L turbodiesel 1995,
i just installed boost gauge and my boost was only (4 max) is it normal or i have something to check.......
i have a 4inch exhaust, FSD cooler(home made), and a air induction box modification.
0-100 ...16 secondes not really good ..no?

Never heard of anyone using 0-100mph times to gauge 6.5 performance, but 16 seconds sounds faster than either of my trucks!!! In fact, I don't think I have ever had them over 85, they are wound so tight by then...

Your boost sounds 'stock'. Without a boost fooler (electronic sensor spoofing) or a Turbo-Master (manual wastegate controller) I'd say thats probably normal.

What are your max EGTs after the 0-100 blast?

IIRC you should see 7 lbs under load and 1 or 2 at cruise. Check your vacume lines and boost controler.

You can ad a potentiometer on the boost sending unit wires and run about 10/11 under load. Makes a big differens indrivability. Youl see 3/4 at cruise on highway.

I think he means 0-100 KPH. That's not too bad, but 4# boost is low.

Is your boost gage Canadian too? With the exchange rate, it might not be too far off.

I think they're using the metric sytem Mark.
We're about the only ones who don't.

I was thinking "that is one fast truck...!!!"

Thats more or less a 0-60 run ( miles :D )
Its not very fast, 10 sec is fast, 8 is real fast for a not heavyily modified truck!

Well, you have it breathing easier through modifed air box and 4" exhaust, so the next logical steps are to add more fuel and air which = MORE POWER.

Don't forget to add gauges at that time so you can monitor critical EGT and boost numbers.

I just had to run my 8200 lb. truck with bed rail tool box and ladder rack on a 0-60 run, 12 sec.

i want to increase my boost level but i don't no, if i go to mecanic system or other system, now my system was with wastegate (vacum ) but my vacum pump failed down, i have to replace it, but at the same time i saw a lot of info about mecanic system, or other system, and i not sure if i really anderstand about the boost control......if i put mecanic system ...the boost level are always at the same point or not??????, the EGR will fonction or not???? and i have to change the vacum pump or not?????? and mecanic was ajustable or not?????....

Have you figured this one out yet.
I'm heading toward the mech. one myself.

gilbert..

I've been trying to solve this dilemma for a while..the most I can get out of my boost is 4.5 PSI under WOT.

The GM service manual says basically if you get atleast 2 psi under WOT your system is working.

My truck makes a solid 2 psi at all times (even idle) according to my tech 1. I guess I'll have to go mechanical to verify my sensor readings.

Take away my failing injection pump, mine runs fine under these boost numbers..plenty of get up and go. I'm afraid to add more boost as I feel this may put more stress on the engine. She's 10 years old and I wanna squeak 2 more years out of her before I go with a refresh.
