Looking for more Power and economy

I know this is like beating a dead horse, but I would really like to have both.

I towed my buddy's jeep (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340535#) and I got 11mpg. I figured I should get better than that.

I would also like to be able to get more power (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340535#) when towing.

My thinking was to get a new crossover (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340535#) pipe and a 4" exhaust for starters.

Is a chip really worth it? Do you give up economy for power since there is more fuel being used?

All in All the jeep with dana 60s and 40s plus my trailer weighs in at around 6000lbs

1995 2500 suburban 4x4 F engine
-130 GPM water pump, 180ºT-stat, 21" fan
-Rebuilt IP with Relocated Dtech PMD #9 resistor
-IP and Starter replaced November 2009

No, it's not too much to ask for more power and economy. As you improve the engine, it's able to provide power while at the same time operating more efficiently. But, keep in mind that a diesel is more picky than a gas engine when it comes to MPH. Typically, keep your speed equal to about 1800 - 1900 RPM's for the best economy when towing.

There are TONS of threads about what you're asking. Take a few minutes and use the search tool - you'll find more answers than you know what to do with!:) In fact, you'll find all of those questions you posed answered many times over already. If you get stuck and have more specific questions that you just can't seem to find answers to, feel free to post back.

The crossover can be put on the back burner, depending on the inner wall. More important would be to replace the stock downpipe.

Couldn't this person have took the time to at least give a quick response? Isn't it just common courtesy? Or is that too much ask? Yes, it would have been courteous. It is not too much to ask. They should have responded.

I know how you feel. But don't let it discourage you from helping a body out.

Gauges first, then exhaust, chip/programming, and injectors.

A 4 " exhaust will gain you nothing but noise over a 3.5" system.

Make sure that the raidator is clear.
