Has anyone fitted the dual bypass filtration system offered by Amsoil? I just finished reading an article in Maxx torque magazine which details the EGR system used in the LMM engine, and why soot levels are higher, and all the reasons that this is NOT GOOD!! It was a very informative read, and sold me on the need for additional oil filteration.
I just received the kit today on UPS, but have not installed it as of yet. It basically consists of 2 spin-on filters--one of which is a bypass filter to help control soot, which on the LMM is much higher than previous models. No doubt, this higher level of soot would not likely be a problem within the vehicles warranty period, but if you plan to keep the truck for any real length of time, this additional filteration could add years to the useful life of the engine. The cost of the kit is not bad, and it remains to be seen as to what my shop will charge for the install.
As far as the warranty is concerned, with proper installation of course, I don't think it would be an issue, especially if you have a good relationship with your dealer.
