Engine mount to block torque spec

My Haynes book says the engine mount bracket to block torque value is supposed to be 75 ft lbs. This seems way too high to me. They are Grade 8 bolts, with a 9/16" hex head and look to be about 1.5" long. Is this really the proper torque value?

I don't want to break them off in the block.

That does seem pretty high, last week I was bolting a transmission back up to a Detroit 3-53 and the 3/8"-16 bellhousing bolt torque spec was 45lb-ft. http://www.engineershandbook.com/Tables/torque.htm shows max torque for a dry 3/8"-16 gr. 8 bolt as 47lb-ft.

Tight with a standard 3/8 ratchet and 9/16 socket is fine.

About 40 Ft Pounds

If your worried about them coming loose, use a little BLUE loctite on the threads

I have never ever used a torque wrench on these bolts and never had any come loose.
