Cant recall the code number at the moment, but the description was glowplug control circuit open/shorted, #6 cylinder. It is a hard code that comes back immediately after clearing. 2006 K2500. Truck starts and runs perfectly still.
Anyone know of a possible common problem to look for?

Does anyone know if all 8 glow plugs have a common controller, or are they individual for each plug?

One controller for all the plugs. They are wired and monitored differently, between CA emission and Federal, but still only one controller. The controller is the PCM, which only controls the relay for the plugs.

Since you say it's an 06 it has a dedicated glow plug controller that controls each glow plug individually. Most likely you have a bad glow plug on that cylinder or a break in the wire to it. There was a recall on some of the 06's for glow plug failures, and I've read about a few failing here recently. The glow plugs in the 06+ are completely different from those of the LB7 and LLY.
