I have a 2001 duramax with about 70,000 miles. I've towed with it for 4 years and used the Hypertech power programmer to program for level 3 towing. Not long ago while on the interstate (not towing) I started to pass a truck. As I was going around the truck I lost power suddenly.Maybe the limp mode I read about. It would only run about 30 MPH. Luckily there was a truck stop. Also the SES light came on. After stopping for awhile I started the truck and it seemed to run OK unless unless I tried to pass then it would loose power again.
The SES light went off but today came back on so I hooked up the programmer to check to see if there were codes. There were 4..I tried to find what they mean but haven't been successful. Here are the codes: P0093 P0306 U1000 U1024
I could try and reprogram back to the stock setting but I will have to clear the codes before doing this. Do you think that might help? I'm not sharp on diesel engines so any suggestions will be appreciated.I haven't noticed any black smoke.
Also I'm in the Myrtle Beach area.If I need to take it in to be worked on can anyone recommend a good diesel repair shop?

The U codes are serial data communication errors. Not necessarily an indication of a failed/failing component.

Change your fuel filter, restore your stock PCM programming and clear the code history. Retest under same/similar conditions. If the codes return, start the diagnosis with the lowest P code first. Your P0306 could be a result of the P0093, and the U codes can follow these, depending on the input range discrepancies. P0093 is most often a plugged fuel filter, other fuel system restriction or major leak (like a poorly installed fuel filter). Otherwise, you have a serious fuel quality issue, failing fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, and/or fuel injector(s).
