Working on my truck a little today and at the risk of sounding stupid-- I can not find the engine # to save my arse. Can anyone help point out where its at on the engine?? Thanks

Hi there,
Most Cat truck engines that I've worked on in the past had a serial number on a plate located on the rocker cover or on the engine block right below the cylinder head on the left hand side of the block near the flywheel housing end of the engine.

Someone may have removed the metal tag?
Sometimes the number is also stamped on the block near the above location on the LHS of the block

Thanks--i think someone did remove the metal tag. there is a number stamped into the block but i cant read it, luckily there was a tag on the rocker cover under the airbox i didn't see.
