It would be interesting to know:

Has anyone used an extension harness for any length of time, like 2 years and 60,000 miles?

Has anyone experienced a FSD failure, using an extension harness?

I have run a 24" cable for 18 months.

I thought I was experiencing FSD Fails ( stalls,
with no codes )

Untill injector pump got so bad it was obvious that
it was not FSD

With new pump I have run for 3 months with 24"
caBLE and " previously suspected bad FSD" without any problems..

FSD is mounted in CAB.

my 98 died this spring after a bit over a year and uncertain miles, less than 12k, on new fsd harness and cooler.

verified problem by swapping fsd onto 96 which started dying while 98 ran fine on 96's fsd.

replaced with new again and ok so far. fsd's on driver side fender well.

97 still fine on factory unit

David,

On your FSD cooler - is your extension a cut and splice of the original cable? And where did you get the heat sink and how is it mounted? Always looking for a way to save a few bucks.

Thanks,

JB

If you can get an old FSD you can cut the Connector
off and use for cable end. The new FSD's come with a short new cable for male end......
Look in electronic salvage yards for heat sink

Standyne shops are pretty good at giving old parts away....

What he said is best,if you do not have to cut don't.
I found my heat sink at a electronics surplus.
Get a good size, don't use a small one.
