Painless wiring headlight relay

For the $25 it cost and the 1/2 hour to install, this is a very good mod to do for your truck. I also have PIAA x-treme white bulbs in both the high and low beams, and it is like night and day compared to stock.

Big D, which kit did you get? Highbeam headlight relay or Halogen headlite harness?

I guess composite headlites have HB5 blubs?

I got it at the local 4 wheel parts. It is the highbeam headlight relay. That combined with my piaa bulbs, is a huge improvement.

Does this add any amount of power to the low beams only? My high beams seem to be OK but the lows are terrible. Half the time I think I'm guessing where I'm going until I click on the highs.

My real need I think is to put more power to the low beams. Adding them into the high's when on is icing on the cake!

It keeps the low beams on when the high beams are activated. Try getting some piaa extreme white bulbs for your truck. They are extremely effective.

Hey guys I found a place on internet to get relays and sockets to do convertions yourself for alot less that at your local auto store.

They have all kinds of relays and prewired sockets and wiring diagrams free with relay order... Here's a dumb question. What kind of headlights? I have a 99 and "thought" mine were not sealed beam. Much to my surprise the parts places list both sealed beam and composite. The link I think you sent looks like it's for a sealed beam. Doesn't a sealed beam just take a single wire connect? Can't remember what kind of connection a 9005 bulb is.

One of the first modifications I made was the Painless Wiring Headlight mod, with all 4 headlights on it makes a "world of difference". And Motor Vehicle Inspection never picked up on it either!

So the painless wiring basically keeps all 4 lights on all the time or only on high beam? The reason I ask is that my highs are just fine and I don't have the lows on at the same time (stock setup). Where my truck is lacking is the low beams. Even my wife commented on it as we were driving back from Brooklyn this weekend at 1:00am. She says to me, "are your lights on?" I think the first order of business is going to be to replace the bulbs with these PIAA bulbs, just need to find out where I can buy them from at a descent price.
