Hi all

Im installing a 6.5L TD into a 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser, and am 75% done. I'm just stuck on the wiring harmess. Is there any info or websites that explain how to make everything work as a stand alone unit. I'm also using a 4L80E trans

Is your pump an electronic one? Or mechanical?

I belive it electronic because its out of a 1995 truck

I installed a 6.2 with a 700R4 into my 85 FJ60. I wired the tranny with two manual toggle switches for lock-up. I believe there is an after market programmer for the 4L80E? I used the positive feed that powered the coil for the IP. The starter wires connected as disconnected. I used a ford starter solinoid for my manual glow plug set up. I have mechanical oil and water guages as well as the cluster guages. I used a lowcar linkedge set up so I have reverse lights and neutral safety. I used a FJ62 radiator and use the tranny cooler for the oil and run a finn cooler for the tranny. I added a second battery. Up sized my alternator. Google chevy alternator or go to IH8MUD.com and do a search. Alot of info on how to wire it up. I am useing the vacuum pump that fits in the back of the block to run my breaks. I would recommend swapping in the chevy hydro breake booster system. Again go to MUD and in the 60 forum there is a couple of build threads. My 6.2 is a military take out. I am running a 6.5 intake. It has plenty of power and I will most likely not turbo it. I am getting a soild 15 mpg and my goal is 20. Good luck and I am sure you will be pleased.

If your 6.5 came out of a 95 you will most likely have an electronic IP. If it were me I would get a complete 4911 set up off a 93. I have a 93 C2500 and it is non-electronic IP. You will need the injector lines as well as the pump. I do not believe there is an after market set up to run the IP. It is a drive by wire not by cable as the 93 would be.
Ther is information on this site on changing form electronic to mechanical IP.

I have found lots of people on here that recomend also just changing to a mechanical pump. I kind of wanted to do it original with the electronic pump, but can't find anything on here. There has to be some one that has tried this before, so the trans and pumpboth work off the original computer:(

You can certainly pull the electronics from the donor vehicle and hook everything up - just going to be more difficult than going the mechanical route.

I have everything from the old truck (harness, computer, and all sensors) but not the dash.

but how do I combine the original harness to the new one, is there anyone that has done this or a website that would explain it all?

What did the engine come out of? I used ALLDATA for all of the wiring on mine. Just beware as GM used the same wire colors for ALOT of different circuits. For a transplant a mechanical pump is the way to go. You can get a custom CHIP for your 95 ECM and hook up most of the sensors and make it work.

Thnaks guys, but I found a place that dose all kinds of crazy wiring for 6.5's, burned me a custom chip, and gave me a new wiring diagram with what i need to cut out for only 400 bucks, Electronitic is the way to go!
