View Full Version : Letters stamped on rods??
I pulled out some old rods I had set aside for a rebuild and noticed some letters stamped into the side. The rods are stamped with an "S", "N", "L", or "H". The opposite side is stamped with the cylinder number where it lives. Any ideas on the letters?
These are likely size codes.
All the stuff to do with bearings and cylinder bore are select fit in these engines.
Just be sure that you check the bearing clearances when assembling.
I would also recommend that you have a machine shop check the big ends to be sure they are round and to spec. These rods usually hold up real well though.

Yes, good advice. They are currently at the machine shop now. I will make sure and check clearances when I do the assembly. Thanks for the reminder!
