Have pulled the 6.5 out of my 95 k3500 (process started due to head gasket leak and concern about deeper problems). Sure enough, found one small crack in the #4 inner main web. A nearby shop 150 miles away is willing to do a full-torque (lock&stitch) insert for me, along with preping the block for a rebuild.
Now I am tearing down the rest of the engine, and have found some really odd nuts holding the injector pump to the front timing cover. Haven't seen nuts like these before. Instead of standard six-sided octagon in shape, they have an outer edge like a scalloped cookie cutter going all the way around.
I don't have a clue as to what tool to use to get them off. Can anybody clue me about what to do?
