Hi,

I'm going to get a pyrometer for my '83 6.2L and was wondering what others are running in regards to the pyrometer probe (tapped and threaded style or clamp-in style). Also, are you guys running the probe in the exhaust manifold or in the exhaust pipe just below the manifold? This truck is naturally aspirated now (turbo maybe in the far future) and has the stock dual exhaust.

Thanks.

The location will determine the probe type (or vice versa). For the manifold, it will have to be tapped/threaded. For the pipe, it will be a clamp type (easiest), or a threaded type if you weld a bung onto the pipe. Greater accuracy and response is closest to the cylinder. It's a personal choice, more than anything.
