Dont hurt my wallet too much? Seriously, I would insist he use all GM parts/gaskets.Assuming he can get them at wholesale.

The 6.2L/6.5L Diesel R & R Guide has a number of worthwhile suggestions. I just compared Fel-Pro and GM/OEM head gaskets, the GM parts man agreed they looked identical. Must use new 'TTL'(stretch) bolts , must apply thread sealant to some....At 175K miles I followed advice in R&R guide to prep block deck by sanding clean. I found grooves surrounding some cylinders where gaskets had eroded block.

back on the old olds 5.7 fel-pro made the oem gaskets and i believe they do the 6.2 and 6.5 also.
My truck had 86,000 when I rebuilt it because the crank broke. I am not the original owner but I do have all the service records and as far as I know the heads had never been off. It had felpro head gaskets on it.

Make sure the Heads aren't warped.
