I recently pulled a 6.5 engine out of a dead truck to put into a good truck with a cooked engine. I pulled the pan off and found two cracks beginning in two different main webs about 1/2 inch each in length. I am trying to do this project on a tight budget. What are my options? Start over with a new block? Will a girdle kit hold it together? How expensive are the lock & stitch inserts I have read about in other threads? If these are an option do I only need to do this where the cracks are or should I do the entire block?
