Anyone know of a company in Canada that sells new, not rebuilt, but new military 6.2L crate engines?

Hi
Are you looking for a company or feedback on a certain company?
I'v had experiance with a company in Calgary that sells complete engins and other diesel parts.RJ performance is the name, and rip off is their game.Don't deal with them unless you have money you arn't attached to,and don't mind throwing away.
Good luck in your search

Im asking because the previous owner of my truck says he replaced the engine with a new military 6.2 he bought from a company in canada. But he doesnt remember the name of the company? So im trying to do some research on it to figure out where it came from.

There is no such thing as a "new" 6.2L crate engine...they haven't been produced since 1992-93. Since that time, a new replacement engine would come as a 6.5L. If you do, in fact, have a "new" engine, it might actually be a 6.5L.

Personally
I would recommend hand building a 6.2 or 6.5 and starting with a nice well seasoned block.

If you find one that has little to no cracking through the outside bolt holes of the center mains your set.

Have a set of Lock and stitch inserts done on those holes to eliminate any future issues.

Use a set of new Clearwater heads and of course freshen the rods and such.

New bearings, bore if need be. Replace the timing chain and lifters too.

New rocker buttons are a must too.

Felpro head gaskets with new bolts (bolts are only good once)

Stay away from any 6.5 blocks with oil squirt holes in the mains. (later blocks)

Hope this helps

Thanks for the input. Im actually just trying to figure out info on the engine currently in my truck. The previous owner claims to have put a new military 6.2 in the truck from a company in canada. Sure, 6.2s arent manufactured anymore, but NOS is possible. The mechanic that worked on this truck backs up the claim that this engine is new. Also says it gets about 240 hp and 400 ft lbs. Yes, all of this seems farfetched for a 6.2, which is why im trying to find out more information. I want to know whats under my hood. I will say that the truck drives exceptionally well, so whatever is under that hood is in great condition.

the previous owner says he bought the engine from another individual. SO I suppose my only option of finding out where this thing came from is to find the serial number...

Get the the number cast into the block on the rear of the engine above the bellhousing bolts right behind the passenger side head. It will be tough to see in the vehicle, but a bright light will help tremendously.

Report back what that number is and we can tell you what engine you have.

Found out where my engine came from. I was on the phone with the mechanic who did all the work on this truck for the previous owner and started talking to him about the engine. He said the engine isnt new, but lightly used. They got it from a humvee (so its definatley a military 6.2) out of a junkyard that, of all people, my cousin owns (small world). Obviously they had to change the oil pan for the suburban and when they did he said the oil was as clear as if it just came out of the bottle, indicating this engine has barely been used. When I bought the truck, the owner said it only has 30,000 miles on it, so the clear oil the machanic speaks of could be an indicator of truth to that statement. While the "new" block was out, they converted everything from 24v to 12v, rebuilt the fuel pump, installed new glow plugs and injector pumps, and installed a new gear-driven timing gear, among other things.

Sounds like I have a pretty solid engine. Next week Ill pay a visit to my cousin and get more info on the engine.

Also, the previous owner of the truck still has the original 6.2 engine. Part of the deal was that engine would be included. Ill be picking that up towards the end of the month ;).
