Suburban Fuel Sending Unit

I searched here, even checked through Chilton's. Couldn't find any info at all about it. I was really surprised that I couldn't even find it mentioned in Chilton's.

Does anybody know if there is an access hole in the floor of a Suburban? Or, do I need to drop the tank?

Dropping the tank considerations: Tank straps, fuel filler neck. Anything else?

Sorry to say, the tank has to be dropped out.

Hitch if installed
skid plate if installed
plastic protection cover
Filler neck assembly (unhook at fill door area)
straps

Be sure to clean the tank strap threads well and lube before trying to remove the nuts

Undercoating is nasty when its in the threads. (Especially when mixed with grit)

Once the tank is ready to come out the lines and electrical cables may be cliped to the frame or body, so be sure and check before you drop the tank and tweeeeeeeeeek something..

Once on the ground you can unhook the lines and wires.

Blow or wash the top of the tank off to gain access to the sending unit area.

Blow the area dry and clean prior to removing the retaining ring that secures the unit.

I did not have to remove the factory hitch, and i have done this twice.

Then mine has a non factory hitch because it had to come off to drop the tank.
