anyone think i'll get too much engine heat here?

Probably, but I would be more concerned with the reduction in filter surface area. That looks like it will choke your flow pretty badly.

Yea, that looks a bit on the small side. You'd have to check the flow specs against a known, appropriate filter for the 6.5. While you will increase the amount of heated air to your intake, if you can move it closer to the fender opening, you'll be OK. I've tried the filter-in-a-box vs with it open (near the opening) and never noticed much of a difference. I wasn't able to measure IAT, but I did do pulling tests and saw no difference ing EGT.

Oh, I should add - don't look solely at flow specs. You'll need to take into account how well it filters and flows.

not sure about filtering properties. tried doing a google search for some specs but couldnt find any

i cant seem to find any website or anything that reviews/rates airfilters on how they flow or filter.

is there any way to get this info?
