Gear Vendors on the back of 4L80

I have 97 2500 2WD with 3.73 and 285s.I have extra Gear vendors sitting in the garage.I wonder if putting it on the back of 4L80 would give me better fuel economy running empty.Right now driving 75mph I have about 2200rpm. I could propably drop 400-500 with the GV .Right now I get about 17-18mpg range. Any opinnions.Thanks .George

What other mods do you have?

Some maybe 1-2 mpg maybe to drop to about 1700 to 1800 rpm. Seems like the 6.5 just gets about 17-18 mpg thats a pretty good avg for a lot of trucks. Being 2 wheel drive you maybe can get a bit more. But I think its due to the gm-8 turbo and pre combustion chamber port size you just get the high teens with out some other mods.

Slowing down to 55-60 would gain you the same thing but 55 doesn't cut it on the interstate in traffic.

My 94 Burb will get 21-22 Hwy but that's a 94 with the Old 5068 pump and ancient ECM programing and a GM4 turbo

The GV might help some in the mileage when your going 65 and up though.
