Loss of acceleration/cuts out

This problem has been happening more and more frequently. I will be driving along and acceleration cuts out for a couple of seconds, and then goes back to normal. It happens at all speeds, and all throttle positions. It almost feels like you have hit a limiter and then it goes back to normal. Sometimes I can even pump the pedal a few times and nothing. No change in RPM, no accelearation, no response and then it goes back to normal. I changed the fuel filter (which was well overdue by about 5k miles) but that didnt help. I have cleaned the MAF as well. Is there anything I am missing? Should I change the filter again?

I don't know about the o5, but when my 01 was doing the same thing, I changed the fuel pressure regulator and it cured the problem. But like I said, I don't know about the 05.
