1981 Chevy ¾ ton 2WD. Originally had a 305 and 3 speed automatic. Now has 6.2L turbo diesel and 4 speed automatic.
Engine: 1982 red block 6.2L diesel, bored .040” over, custom lower compression pistons w/ceramic coatings, DSG gear drive, injection pump rebuilt to 6.5L turbo specs, 6.5L turbo injectors, DSG stud girdle kit, only 20,000 miles since rebuild, Garret turbocharger (18 psi!), custom 4” exhaust, new 4-core radiator, averages 17 mpg unloaded, 11-12 when towing.
Transmission: 1990 700R4 w/brand new custom torque converter.
Rear axle: 14 bolt SF w/4.10 gears.
Body: was completely redone and painted in 1998, including Rhino spray-in bedliner. Paint is pretty good, but is showing signs of age, has rust popping out around fenders, dent in cab from tree limb damage, misc scratches and small dents. Interior is in average condition, mostly stock. Has new weather stripping around windows and doors.
Other: keyless entry, power windows/locks, cold A/C w/new compressor, like-new BF Goodrich tires w/around 10,000 miles on them, custom aluminum wheels, Firestone Ride Rite air helper springs w/onboard air compressor and gauge in cab, CB radio and CD player in custom overhead console, custom aux. fuel tank/tool box combo in bed.
This has been my project vehicle for the past 14 years. My needs have changed and I no longer need a ¾ ton pickup, and my growing family doesn’t fit well in the regular cab. I hate to sell her, but it’s time she found a new home!
