the reason i ask, my selling dealer claims i had too much weight to lift it up to replace tranny cooling lines..

service writer says he can only lift 7000 lbs, after talking with service manager he said 9000lbs.

i have a camper top, and maybe 700 lbs of stuff in the back.

makes me wonder how they did the tranny service i had done last year. i could see a bit of a mess dropping a allison pan....and a couple of dealer oil changes.
guess i might have gotten ripped off on these also.

In any case, an Allison tranny service can be done easily on the ground. No lift required. The pan does not have to come off. It has a drain plug, and Allison recommends internal filter change only at overhaul. The external spin-on filter can be changed easily while the pan drains. A creeper would be a lot easier than a lift, for the service.

If there gonna service diesels the should have at least 1 12000# hoist.
Back in the day I had a few custom trucks I couldn't lift with a 12K hoist.

they charged me for internal filter on the service....
now that i m thinking back, they did lift the truck because i remember seeing the scuffed paint on the frame rail.

I have a Manitowoc 9,000# asymetrical lift. My 2002 weighs mid 7's. I'd use 7500# as a good average and add your shell to that. No problems lifting, but I'd be hesitant to use a 7,000# lift which is what most shops have.

I have a 2001 D/A x-cab short bed and it weighs in at 6700#. I would guess yours should go +/- 7800#.

My truck weighs 7250# no driver, half tank of fuel. My shop has 9000# 10000# 12000# lifts and a service pit. Any self respecting, progressive dealer, except maybe foreign nameplates will have @ least some lifts over 7000# or they will not be here long, period!

Can't imagine a dealer not having a 10K lift. We have a Bend Pac 10K assimetrical, back home. Lift my son's DM Long WB-Dually-CC, with a steel diamond plate, flat bed. It must weight pretty close to the 10. It groans a little more than when I lift mine, and you have to drive farther ahead to keep the rear from rocking the front of the truck off the arms! Mine weighs about 7200, empty. My signature at bottom.

Yup 3500 is right close to #7000 empty give or take depending on equipment.

My 95 is 7200 with driver and 1/2 tank of fuel.
