Hoping someone can help me out here. I need the GM part number for the harness that runs from the body connector above the spare tire to the 7 wire trailer connector. Recently we had some troubles with the acutal connector which we wound up replacing because it was so badly corroded. When doing so, I noticed that as I stripped the existing wire, it was corroded inside the insulation, well back up from the connector.

Several days ago, my trailer brake controller lights up (no trailer attached). Check the connector installed last summer and it's completely corroded - again. Cut and butt ended all the wires. Now I'm going to fix it properly, starting by replacing the harness.

Head off to my local dealer and they can't find a part number for this harness.

Hopefully someone can access this information and help me out.

Thanks a lot!

Chris

Not sure if you mean the harness that T's into the existing connection before the pass through the bumper and comes out through the box for a 5th wheel? I just purchased one made by Valley for GM's 99-09. Part number is 30133. It was about $50. The replacement butt ended harnesses for the bumper connector are also available from etrailer.com.

Another place to try would be gmpartsdirect dot com. If you can't find it on their website, call them directly. That's too bad that dealer couldn't (?wouldn't?) help you.

When you replace the harness be sure to use some dielectric grease in the butt splices as well as the connectors. In fact every connector that you can put your hands on use some grease. It doesn't take much and you will find that everything will operate better. This will keep the moisture out and the corrosion to a minimum.
