I have an 86 mod 6,2 diesel with the DB2829-4502 Injection pump, will an DB2829-4879 fit on this engine without problems ?

Hello
The 4879 pump is from a 1990 Humvee 6.2 engine.
It was originally fitted with a 24 volt fuel shutoff solenoid.

This IP will physically fit and work as long as you change the fuel shutoff solenoid to a 12 volt unit along with the advance solenoid.

Military stuff is 24 volt and Civy is 12Volt

The solenoid is under the top cap.

These are easy to change, just be sure you get the linkage back correctly.

Any DB2 IP will physically fit and work. The differences are in the fuel settings for power levels and emmisions.

The one pump that is for the 6.5 that will also fit is the 4911
This IP was designed for the 92-93 6.5 Turbo engines
Using one of these with a Banks turbo is a great way to go.

There are several Ip's that were used on the 6.2 that were marketed in the U S and several others that were used on military vehicles only.
The MIL stuff is out there and one can usually find out the numbers on the web with a little looking.

I will assume that an 90 M998 would have an more "tuned up" pump than an light duty truck with emissions restrictions... or ?

Yup sure will.

The power levels will be substantially more power for the HMMWV

Your Blazer wont care at all.

I hope it will be possible to install the solenoids from my old pump.
Does anybody have pictures of this change ?

There should be some materials on this in the members section here at TDP.

The solenoids are the same except for the voltage requirements.

I pulled the top cap off my HMMV 24 volt IP and exchanged the cap from my 12 volt IP. Just pay attention to the linkedge and gasket. It should click if tested with 12 volt after change. I believe there is an artical in the diesel books sold on this site. Also a search would probably give direction. It is an easy, straight forward swap. If your IP has round plugs and not flat spade plugs it is a good guess it is 24 volt. My military take out IP is advanced about 1/8". I can not detect any slop in the timing chain by turning the crank shaft. It is more raspy sounding then my 1993 6.5TD. Under hard acceleration it dose not blow execessive smoke and the exhaust temp has not exceeded 1100F. I have 250 miles on it and so for (a few small oops) since the swap into a Toyota Landcruiser FJ60 with a 700R4 and it is all smiles. I would like to add a turbo in the future for hwy driving and will be sending my spare IP and injectors in to get tuned. Also I am only at 1/2 tank and would have needed gas with the old 2F motor and 4 speed and no smiles.
