Hi,
I picked up an '83 K2500 with a 6.2L and SM465 about a week ago. The truck is all original and has about 64,000 original miles on it. While driving though, as it coasts (no throttle) in either 3rd or 4th gear, there is a grinding noise. It's not like a gear-clashing type of grinding sound, it's almost sounds like a bearing going out. As soon as the clutch is depressed, the noise goes away. Or, if I start to get back into the throttle and accelerate, the noise disappears too. When idling in neutral, with the clutch in or out, there isn't any noise. Does anyone have any ideas on what to check? Throwout bearing maybe? Thanks for the help.
